PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Renovation of a tenant space in an existing shopping center in Hartville, Ohio for use as a primary care medical office space to provide healthcare services to the community. Working closely with Cleveland Clinic user group, the layout provides 10 exam rooms including an enlarged space for accommodations for patients of size. These accommodations are more inclusive and acknowledges the unique needs of individuals who require extra care and attention due to their physical dimensions. After completion of construction documents the design team was asked to include imaging equipment along with support services. This resulted in the complete redesign of the project and multiple layout options to maintain the required number of exam rooms.
A central waiting room with kiosks and reception desk were provided for patient comfort and ease of check-in and check-out. Staff workrooms are strategically located in close proximity to the exam rooms. Additional staff spaces include a manager office, open office for physicians, and staff break room. Support spaces include supply room, clean storage, testing room, med room, soiled holding, and EVS. Two toilets are included with one enlarged space to be used by patients. The generous dimensions provide another space designed to accommodate patients of size or additional physical space needs. Enlarged main corridor provides ease of access in the case of emergency gurney access by EMS. This emergency accommodation required the relocation of the rear door, gas service, and downspout. Utility and IT rooms also provided to for electrical and plumbing as needed. New rooftop mechanical units were included requiring existing structural analysis and specific mounting location.
Finishes include: porcelain tile, carpet tile, walk-off carpet, commercial Polyurethane heterogeneous sheet flooring. New acoustical ceiling throughout with electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems upgrades, equipment coordination, security, and technology engineering.
